Become a Friend of Skärfva.

The autumn of 2004 some twenty people and companies formed together with the owners of Skärfva, the Skröder family, Skärfva Vänner (the Friends of Skärfva). The association adopted the following purpose:

"The association shall together with other participants work for a development and preservation of Skärfva with its world heritage for the good of the region’s industry, citizens and visitors. This purpose shall primarily be reached through the association particularly working for to;
- create a meeting place for culture, garden development, music, crafts etc,
- restore and preserve the buildings in the area as well as to use them in a for the purpose rational and effective way,
- create and maintain contacts both nationally and internationally for the purpose of marketing Skärfva also outside the region,
- offer the educational system the possibility to make use of Skärfva within the subject fields that are within the course of study for the agricultural universities."

The board consists of representatives from the Skröder family, industry, local museums and administrations. We of the board shall work for to create a living Skärfva and to give all those who want to the possibility to help preserving our common cultural heritage. Since the start the association has grown to some 300 members. During 2007 the association will arrange the 18th century Battle of Carlscrona as well as the traditional summer theatre. During the summer Café ChapmansRo is open and the guided tours of Chapman’s Skärfva will continue as usual.

As a support for development of the culture at Skärfva, there is within the association a support group with experts within different fields. Maybe you possess an expert knowledge that enables you to contribute to the work? The association also offers all members some benefits. These are:
1. To have at your disposal a common area on the slopes of Skärfva for garden plots. The qualified vocational education at Skärfva has the competence to support this activity and give expert advice. The cultivating member will also, against payment, be able to get help with watering etc.
2. To participate in activities or courses together with the gardener’s education or one of the museums with precedence to a certain number of seats. Maybe we will get the opportunity to learn how to prune fruit trees or choose apple trees under expert tutorial in the gardens of Skärfva, which are under reconstruction.
3. Any member contributing with at least SEK 1 000 can plant his/her own apple tree at Skärfva. A memorial tree to care for and gather from ever after if you want. If you recruit at least 20 members, the association will plant an apple tree in the name of the recruiter. The recruiter can if wanted use the tree as his/her memorial tree as long as he/she remains a member.
4. Reduced fees to all the activities that the member participates in with at least 10 % in relation to regular fees. As far as possible precedence will be offered when there is a limited number of seats.
5. Free participation in the summer guided tours of Skärfva Manor.

You can become a member through paying SEK 100 per person or SEK 150 for families to the association’s bank giro account 5020-5301. Associations can support our activities for SEK 300 in member fees and companies pay SEK 1 000 in member fees.

Yours sincerely,
Per Håkansson
